Local painters, not a call center
Kalamazoo is an old city with a lot of well-built housing. The Vine, Stuart, and Westnedge Hill historic districts are full of 1890s to 1930s homes with original wood siding, deep porches, and detailed trim. The neighborhoods that grew up around them through the 1950s and 60s are mostly aluminum and vinyl-sided ranches and Cape Cods, and Portage and the townships add newer subdivisions and lake homes. Western Michigan University and the hospitals bring rentals, condos, and a steady commercial base downtown.
We run our southwest Michigan operation from downtown Kalamazoo, with crews that also cover the corridor south through Three Rivers, Niles, and the Berrien County lakeshore. The same estimators, the same crews, and the same process everywhere. Estimates are free for homes and businesses alike.

Kalamazoo sits in the Lake Michigan snow belt. Sealing every gap in siding and trim before painting is what keeps months of snowmelt from getting behind the coat and lifting it by spring.
Student rentals near WMU, condo buildings, and the storefronts, offices, and restaurants along the Kalamazoo Mall and Michigan Avenue need durable finishes and scheduling around tenants and business hours.
Good to know
Kalamazoo and Portage are our home base, and our crews cover Kalamazoo County plus the corridor south through Three Rivers, Edwardsburg, Niles, Berrien Springs, and the Lake Michigan shore around Stevensville. Estimates are free and there is no travel charge.
Exterior paint needs surface and air temperatures above 50°F to cure, so the season in southwest Michigan runs from about May through October, a little shorter than farther south. Spring fills up first. If you want a summer date, reach out in late winter or early spring. Interior work is scheduled year-round.
With thorough prep and a quality 100% acrylic exterior paint, most homes here get seven to ten years from a repaint. Wood siding on the sunny south and west sides wears fastest; shaded north walls and brick trim last longer. The biggest factor is prep, which is why scraping, sanding, and priming take up a large share of our time on every exterior job.
Yes. Historic homes repaint very well with the right prep: scraping loose paint, sanding edges smooth, spot-priming bare wood, and caulking every joint. Multi-color trim work is hand-brushed with crisp cut lines, and we can help with period-appropriate color schemes.
It can, and most of Kalamazoo's historic neighborhoods qualify. Older homes may have layers of lead-based paint under the surface. Tell us the age of your home when you request an estimate and we will walk you through how we handle prep so dust and chips are contained.
Yes. We paint individual rentals, multi-unit buildings, and student housing turnovers between semesters. Turnover windows are tight, so we staff them with multiple crews and lock the dates in early.
Yes, paint and materials are included in your estimate. We work primarily with Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore lines matched to the surface and the room, and we are happy to use a specific product if you have one in mind.

"This company is OUTSTANDING. Honestly, I won't have enough space here to express the professionalism of the entire team - all of them. They took on a daunting task of scraping and painting TWO historic bungalows with exteriors that had not seen much love over the years. Picture original wood siding that has baked for over 100 years in the Florida sun. And they wouldn't let me feel bad for all of the peeling paint they removed! Everyone smiled, were fun, pleasant, and most importantly, worked their butts off from early morning until the sun went down. Lastly, I first pursued using a local painter but never received a response. Brothers Colors contacted me immediately and were over for a very reasonable quote in a very short turnaround time. So impressive, from start to finish"
"Patrick and his team were efficient, professional, friendly. Patrick personally assisted on our home interior painting job, and did a thorough walk-through to ensure we were completely satisfied with their work. When one small spot was identified he corrected it himself, and even returned the next day to ensure the final touch-up was to our satisfaction. They did a beautiful job - it was a pleasure working with this company, and we will be a repeat customer for future work."
"Patrick was very professional and his team does exceptional work! I would definitely recommend him to everyone who needs a special touch to add value to their loving home! I will be calling him for all my future house painting projects!"
"I hired this company to paint exterior of my house. They did an excellent job. Prompt, professional and reasonably priced. Knowledgeable painters with attention to detail. Thorough preparation, excellent and responsive communication. Finished quicker than anticipated. Very happy with results"
